Finally made it to the orthopedist on Wednesday, and his assessment was a bunch of gobbledygook until I got him to clarify that my ligaments are still damaged from my fall and they're mad at me for not giving them the opportunity to heal. I talked him out of a cast and into a boot called a cam walker (which will keep my foot still like the cast would, but I can take it off to drive and take showers). Bottom line is that all the yelling of the guys to sit down was right. Yeah, yeah. They'll never let me live this down, you know. Steve and Mike were right. :P
This is where it gets damned annoying though. My insurance company doesn't work with any of the companies that supply the orthepedic center I'm going to, so I had to make a SEPARATE appointment elsewhere to actually get the cam walker. That'll be my Monday morning. Until then, I'm just gonna have to keep aggravating the damned thing, cuz I have errands and chores that can't be ignored. So grateful for pain pills.
My aunt took Caedyn and I to see the latest Harry Potter movie yesterday, and on the whole, it was very enjoyable. I hate seeing movies for which I've already read the books, because they never satisfy the detail and imagery in my head, but I was pleased with the casting and thought that what was included was represented very well. I understand that you can't include everything from a book in a movie, but I came away wondering if anyone who hasn't read the books will understand some of the finer points that were brushed on or barely there at all.
All the schedule adjustments that have come as a result of Steve's new job and too many doctor-related appointments for me have me scrambling a bit, so I haven't been able to post as much here or as often, but I gotta tell you, I'm so much happier active. It's like I've gotten my entire job back!
Word from Tennessee is a mixed bag. My sister-in-law has been having a really hard time, and the last doctor's appointment went fairly well. The baby hasn't turned yet, and that seems to be the next goal - to get him to turn before she goes into labor or distress. She had a contraction in the doctor's office, so he got to see exactly what's been going on and how much pain she's been in. We're still unclear on whether he thinks she can make it to August 24th, but he's explained that they'll need to airlift her to another hospital (one with a NICU) if anything goes wrong before he sees her next in a couple of weeks. So, more sit and wait, but nothing worse than what she's already going through. It's hard enough sitting on the phone with Mom when she talks about Kimmie's pain. I can't imagine being her right now, trying to help as much as possible and not able to help with that. I would've made a terrible nurse. :P God's got them covered though. Count on that.
Now, I just want my car fixed (transmission is still being a pain) so I can stop driving Mom's boat (omg, this car is like a big box and I'm a little car person), the bills caught up, and a full pantry. I figure God's got us covered for these things! :)
