Disgusted

I generally try to keep things posted to this blog on the lighter or more positive side for the most part, but on occassion, something comes to my attention that shakes my faith in humanity to its very core. This is such a situation.

In short, a woman spent two years pretending to have a life-threatening illness simply to gain attention for herself and, possibly, to have a relationship with someone who really was sick.

I'm astounded by the extent to which she was willing to go - even so far as to raise money for herself.

My heart goes out to the CF community as it tries to recover from this incredible blow to their sense of unity and their trust in each other. As Nate (who apparently has deleted all posts concerning the Friends of Pepe blog and the situation that has come from it) pointed out recently for himself and Tricia, none of these people should have their time, energy, or focus diverted from their own circumstances (many have CF or family with CF) to deal with this. It's fraud. It's unconscionable. It's...well, I can only pray for everyone involved, as well as pray for those who did this to get the help they so obviously need.
