Back to the Podium...

Okay, I admit it. I have too many alts. But as I'm an addict, I refuse to see any of them meet with Muse's fate, so I've come up with a new solution. This requires explanation, however, so please bear with me.

One of the lovely things you learn in the life of the emotional roller coaster from hell known as Bipolar Disorder is to develop coping mechanisms. One of mine has been structuring my day as much as is necessary to maximize function. Sometimes, the structure has to be loose and allow for changes, and other times, it needs to be more tightly organized. Either way, it helps loads.

And then, I totally dump structure for chaos just when I need the damned structure most. Cuz sometimes Bipolar equals kinda stupid. :P

So, this is my new attempt.

Okay, in general (for all you general people out there who could care less which alt, what game, etc. and just want to be like...my mom or my friend-who-wants-to-go-to-lunch or...well...you get the point), this is pretty much that part where I say "tell me as far in advance to give me a chance to be prepared for it" by giving my schedule a glance and making sure I enter said plans into it. Everyone's always so sweet to me about being flexible, so this really isn't much of a change for you as it is a way to see evidence of the effort to be reliable back. :)

For all you fellow rp'ers out there, this means that I will be attempting to say "I will play this character during this time." Caveats and addendums include "If I'm solo'ing this character, and I see someone logged in as someone I'd rather be rp'ing with, I'm running over there" and "I need a nap." Sometimes, it'll be a little fifteen minute slot to remind myself of an intention rather than actual slotted time, but things like task forces and rp with specific characters will be there too.

Now, I know, I know, I know that some of you are shaking your heads going "But I rp whichever character I'm in the mood to play." Me too. But, in order to avoid neglecting any of the...*tries to count in her head and gives up*...hundred and one things I'm working on and kicking myself later, I've decided I need to dedicate at least a portion of each evening that I spend in game to one specific character - even if it's just to do 3 missions and log in someone to chase after another character I see pop up online. The up side to this is that you - yes, you - can actually email/PM me and say "Hey, would you set aside this hour for rp between our characters? I see you're free then." and I'll actually do that.

I tend to feel overwhelmed in game when I've got 3 or 4 people I want to go rp with, but each needs a different character with which to do so. So, the solution is to work out the answers ahead of time to avoid anxiety over the questions. See? Coping mechanism. :)

I've put a link to my calendar on the side bar. It's fairly empty at the moment, but that's temporary cuz I tend to put up Mike's work schedule, my appointments, chores, etc up in spates.

Anyway, thanks for helping me out here, and let me know if you have any ideas or whatnot to make this work more smoothly for you, okay?
