Character Updates

Synoptic
(Level 48)

One of the best parts about getting back to what made Syn the brat she was has been going back to the history I built for her that got used all of once. When Leroy returned, she was scouring DA for him (as were Ted, Krystal, and Cally), because he was one of those rare people she's met who speaks exactly what he's thinking. To a telepath who hears the surface thoughts of 90% of the people around her (and how often those thoughts differ from what is said), this makes Leroy one of her favorite people. He's genuine, friendly, and kind-hearted.

So, when she saw him, pounding his way through D.A. looking for Adamaster (to demand to be taken to see Harken's dad), her heart broke for him. It was the first time she'd been able to actually relate to him, and she hated that, because it was about death and loss - subject matter she's far too familiar with. The neat part here is the odd little friendship the two have developed since then. She's one of those people who has never treated him as though he was stupid; and he's one of those people who hasn't flipped out over her or her boyfriend's more colorful personality traits (including a hilarious bit about sexual positions called the skeletor and the spider monkey).

The Hero's Muse
(Level 3)

When CoV first came out, I looked over my list of characters on Champion with a critical eye with the intention of making an extra slot available for character creation. I chose what I thought was a little known, rarely played character that no one would really miss. I'd had problems with the melee archetypes, and in Nya's case, it was even harder, because I'd resolved to keep her airborne all the time. I didn't get to play her often, and she required me to be in a good mood (or capable of allowing myself to get into a good mood as a result of playing her). I was shocked by the response to my post that I'd dropped her.

Nya's background was really very simply constructed. She was a faerie who was banished from her little faerie community for revealing herself to a knight errant whom she followed around for the bulk of his carreer. Her personality was a lot of fun to play, because she was unflappable (and a bit absent-minded). When I first started playing her, I resolved to use three rules: abide by the assertion made by the live-action version of Peter Pan that stated faeries aren't wicked in nature, but are so small, they're only capable of one emotion at a time; her first, most preferable emotion by default is happy; she sees the hero in everyone.

I was speaking to another player on a completely unrelated topic, and I was apologizing for something. His response was "You killed Nya". So, I resolved to bring her back. She's been through a few changes - most notably, her sword's been taken away from her - and her name had to be changed from 'The Fencing Muse', but she's the same character right down to the hour I spent working on her face from a pic I'd kept. She made her debut Saturday night, and I hope to give her a full run this time around. :)

Dark Scorpia
(Level 48)

Spent Friday night (literally all night) working on the first Shard TF with a great team. Didn't just pick up the Portal Smasher badge for the TF itself, but also the Crey Power Tank badge. Then, last night, logged her in for a bit and got the Zookeeper which means she just needs a couple plaque-clickin's to get her Vanguard medal. :)

I'm still working on her thread. There are some pieces I want in between logs that are still lodged in my head. It's been great having her out and about again, though, and I've loved playing her post-evolution.

Pearl Thunder
(Level 29)

Sunday. Positron TF. 8 hours. Two attacks aside from snipe.

On the bright side, she was spending time with people from Exodus and Fyrborn. The company was good, the conversation good, the zombie puke...well...ok, it was nasty. She did pick up her Gravedigger badge to hang next to her Positron's Ally I'm-really-contemplating-'accidentally'-shooting-him-in-the-ass-anyway badge.

Savannah Star
(Level 33)

Positron TF last week. DEARGOD no more of that for a while!

The "Skeletor"? Is that where someone shouts "My powers are beyond your understanding" at a key moment?

It's the one where they claim that I'm the Master of their Universe.
