Am I an elitist snob for discounting the opinions of someone who doesn't use spell check? I'm not talking about someone who has the occassional typo. I'm talking about the guy who will post a comment or post to a forum discussion of a serious topic - supposedly to participate in the discussion and have his/her opinion taken seriously - yet can't seem to correctly spell any word with more than three letters in it.
It's maddening to my mind to read a long, supposedly thought out post with an average of 3 spelling errors per sentence, and often, they're words that my eleven year old spelled correctly at the age of 7. As under-educated as I am, it somehow discounts the opinions expressed, and all the person had to do was click on that little spell check button that seems to be everywhere.
It's one thing to not care about looking literate when joking around or posting to non-serious issues, but it's entirely different when you're trying to make a valid point that you'd like others to take seriously.
So...Lela's a snob, right?
