I have not been updating much in the way of what's going on here, because life seemed to become so much busier and, by the time I sat down at the keyboard, I just wanted to go play CoX. It seems that when my computer time becomes exponentially smaller, I get that "I'm finally here and want to catch up on my 'playtime'!" kinda feeling. ("Hi, I'm Lela, and I'm a CoX-aholic.")
So, I figure a little update is in order. I'm in brief, conservative statement mode, so this will hopefully be short.
--"I'm tired." This seems to come out of my mouth a lot lately. I've been a lot more active due to a nice long stretch of stability, but I lack stamina. I'll get there though. :)
--I started going to Mom's to use her treadmill 2-3 times a week. It gets me out of the house more; power-walking is good for my heart, yadda, yadda; and I leave my cigarettes at home, so the longer I hang out with her, the less I smoke.
--We're trying to quit smoking. As there are 3 adults and one child in this house, we've decided to employ a "step-down" method in which we steadily decrease our maximum allowance of cigarettes a day until they're gone. This sucks in many ways, so I get very quiet to avoid passing on my cranky, or I resort to short responses comprised of as few words as possible. Apologies now if this inadvertently offends someone.
--In the state's standardized test, the FCAT, Caedyn scored 2 perfect scores (Math and Reading) and one 4 out of 5 (Science). We're so incredibly proud of him for this, and his reward (according to a deal we struck just before testing began) will be twenty bucks and a trip to a local amusement center where I've promised to go...*mom-shudder*...go-carting (is that even a term?) with him.
--Caedyn's last week of school is next week, and beyond that, I have no idea how often I'll be around during the day. I'm hoping very little, as I'd like to find things we can get in the car and go do so that he's not cooped up here on the computer all summer. (Though, that'd suit him fine, cuz he really is the child of two geeks. :P )
--New doctor totally rocks. He went line by line through my blood work with me, and we talked about ways to adjust my cholesterol (it's not high, but the good is too low) and blood pressure, as well as avoid Type II Diabetes in the future. Rather than just stick me on blood pressure meds right away and tell me to lose weight, we're trying a combination of diet, exercise, thyroid treatment, and water pills (with a mild blood pressure med) to get my weight and blood pressure down. After a bit of research online this morning, I was very surprised at the links between thyroid problems and cholesterol problems. I highly recommend looking into this and asking for a thyroid test - particularly for women - if you're diagnosed with high cholesterol.
--Mike's the most outstanding husband ever, and I can't say that enough.
Um...think that's it. Turned out longer than I expected. :)
Edit: Like an idiot, I failed to mention (and realize) that the water pills I started included a mild blood pressure med, which would totally explain the tired. Updated the little doctor bit to reflect the med difference. I can stop beating up on myself for all the tired and let myself get a nap in every now and then. :P
