So, last night, I get a phone call from Mom. They're on their way to the hospital, and this is it.
Except...a couple of hours later, she called to let me know it wasn't. Her contractions are spaced too far apart, her water didn't break (but - and excuse the gross-out - there was mucus discharge, which made for the confusion), and there is no further dialation. So, the doc at the hospital told them that he/she doubted that she'd be in full labor before she sees her doctor again on Monday.
So, they trundled everyone back home until Monday's doctor appointment. From what I've gleaned from conversations with Mom, no one expects Kimmie to make it to the 24th, and the big push was to get her within a month of her due date - which she now is. I honestly have no idea how safe it is to deliver now, and we're praying a lot that both mother and baby get through this safely.

It is the normal push to get pregnancies to the 36 week mark, especially in "danger" cases like your sis-in-law. Every day after the 36 week mark is a good one, with extra weight gain, stronger lungs, etc. So she could deliver and be okay and the baby may need to stay for a short period of time in the nursery.
Best of luck to everyone and well wish for a healthy delivery. Things will be fine.
