Okay, so like...a month or so ago, I'm stuck at home on a Saturday, and I notice that the first Austin Powers movie is gonna be on one of our local broadcast stations. I figure "What the hell?" and watch, fully expecting to roll my eyes and decide I picked a bad time to watch tv.
Except...weird thing...I liked it. I mean...it's not one of your thinkers or anything. It's a silly, childish spoof. But! It's a silly childish spoof of all those James Bond movies I grew up loving (thanks, Mom!).
So, I mentioned this to my brother-in-law (with whom, the best conversations are always about movies and/or Buffy, Angel, and Heroes), and said I was thinking I'm gonna have to rent/catch the sequels one day.
Guess what he gave me for Christmas?
Yep, that's right. I have three movies of absolute silliness to snort at, and they're hilarious. The cameos are fun. The obvious jokes are fun. It's just all about having some silly fun.
I'm a bit jealous of Mikey's present from him though. He gave Mike a hard cover compilation of the first 34 installments of the Heroes online graphic novel. It's beautiful! Can't want to snag it to read on my own!
Then, last night, Mikey surprised me with a late Christmas gift (and the best of all): The third Pirates of the Carribean movie that I have yet to see! And it's even got a little puter game to go with it! SQUEEEEEEEEEE!
