No joke. There's even a website (isn't there always?). I'm not sure exactly which thing they're protesting. It's either that old people are watching birds have sex and then having sex themselves, that people are videotaping birds having sex and therefore competing with shows like Nature (where I've seen all manner of animal couplings), or that...well...I give up. Let's see what the actual protesters had to say...
