Midnite Tempest
(Level 25)
In spite of Dierdre's initial clarity of where she and Derek (Star Breaker) stood, things got a little murky as she broke down amidst accusations that he and anyone else would never see anyone but Raene when they looked at her. He stepped up and told her some very sweet things about how different she was, and when she asked if she kissed the same way, he happily told her no. He explained again how he could so easily discern between her and the woman she was created to look like, reassuring her that she was her own person.
And then, last night, she experienced a sickeningly surreal moment akin to deja vu when he told her that he had feelings for another woman. It was like her first encounter with John (Epitaph) in which he explained that he was feeling something for someone else (which turned out to be Hekuba), and Dierdre fell apart. She announced that she didn't want to be in a competition or 'one of' the women someone could care about.
This is all a bit messy at the moment. I really don't think she was ready for any kind of relationship, but at the same time, she feels adrift and in need of someone that she can trust to see her as Dierdre while she pretends to be Raene. She wants to feel like she has a purpose and is worthy of all the things a 'real human being' is worthy of. Derek seems to genuinely care about her as she is, and she wants that so very badly.
Game Notes:
Got started on the Croatoa content and am looking forward to cool, fun temp powers.
Miss Nebula
(Level 10)
I actually hate the idea of giving any IC updates for Caitlin, because I've invited Sean to post what he's been writing from the rp here at the blog. It's so very good, and I'll be trying to keep up with writing from her point of view as he goes. :)
We're currently working her and OM through the Hollows stuff, and she just picked up Julius as her current contact, so we'll have another character or two with the Cavern Trial in a couple of weeks. :)
Midnight Tempest
(Level 11)
Raene spent some time running around with a couple people this weekend and gained a couple levels - including the Tactician (a student of our very own Strategist who went bad!), Dark Mirror, Cheerless, Markov Chain (Neb's future arch-nemesis), and Michael Creasey (a former hero - which really rankled Raene to no end).
She's really still in that space of "I'm angry at everyone and can't trust anyone", so she's not necessarily the friendliest person right now. When asked why she came to the Rogue Isles, she said it was because all her friends betrayed her.
In her less than whole frame of mind, the events of what has happened to her since she left for Australia have bled together to form a huge, confusing mess that she dares not try to untangle for the moment. She's self-destructive and takes unnecessary risks in her pursuit to run away from everything she was in what she now deems as her 'past life', and she rationalizes the things she's doing (i.e. missions) as what she needs to do to survive.
Game Notes:
I love the corruptor archtype. I'm really frellin' happy to have the jet pack since travel powers (aside from Siphon Speed) are going to be way far off for this chica. Rather than build her smart, I've tried to plan her out as close to the development of the CoH version as possible, so she should get really interesting to play down the road. :P
